In some areas of the country, together with the 1-year party of the newborn, the cutting of the motto or the breaking of the cake is also celebrated. These customs are perceived as an integration into society and a strengthening of family ties, being also found in other cultures.
The motto is usually cut for the boys, and the cake is broken for the girls. but it is not a clear rule, everything depends on the area where the little ones live.
How is a motto cutting or cake breaking organized?
Parents usually invite the godparents and the family to their home or to a restaurant, they organize a meal full of dishes, a small party and gifts are offered.
Both ceremonies have the same ending: a tray with different objects is placed in front of the child, and the child must choose three objects that attract him the most. A book, a pencil, a flower, a coin, car or house keys, scissors or other tools depending on certain jobs can be placed on the tray.
